Criteria for Guild Membership:
Members Live, Work, or Play in the Rosemont Neighborhood of Portland, Maine.
Payment of Annual Dues – $35. The Guild’s membership cycle is from January 1 to December 31.
Dues for the same year are expected to be paid upon receiving a welcome letter of admittance to the Guild to “activate” the membership.
A member’s work must be original in design and created by a handmade process by the artist. This work must fall within the fine craft or fine art category.
Attend at least 2 of the Guild’s quarterly meetings.
Complete at least one volunteering assignment within a calendar year.
Examples of volunteer assignments:
distributing Guild promotional or marketing materials; hosting a Guild social gathering; assist with set-up/clean-up of a Guild event, etc.
Assist with the Guild’s annual “Buy Local Art” holiday show by signing up for a volunteering assignment.
(While members can opt not to participate as a vendor at the Holiday Show, it is still an expectation that you will volunteer to support the Guild’s largest group hosted event)
Benefits to Active Membership
Participation in the Guild’s annual “Buy Local Art” Holiday Show. Fee is covered by the Guild.
Opportunity to sell work (on the first come basis) at the Maine Craft Association’s Portland Fine Craft Show. Fee is covered by the Guild.
Access to local art resources and Guild‐hosted workshops.
Networking opportunities with other artists.
Enhanced visibility through a listing on the Guild’s website. The listing includes an artist statement, photos and links to each artist’s website and social media accounts.
Promotion through the Guild’s social media marketing and advertising efforts throughout the year.
